Our new Re:cognise Series explores the inspirational individuals we’re lucky to work with every single day – and the people that inspire them.
From Wimbledon to the Whitehouse: meet Sarona’s role models
With more than 15 years’ experience as brand, content and marketing specialist, Sarona is the newest addition to the Emberson Marketing team. So, let’s get to know her a little better.
Hi Sarona. What qualities do you look for in a positive role model?
“Having recently worked in the high-performance environment of a professional football club, I’ve been lucky enough to see behind the curtain what it takes to achieve at an elite level. I always find it really resonates with me to see someone working to their very limits in pursuit of a really clear goal. While working just as hard to maintain their integrity along the way. That’s the mark of a truly inspiring person.”
How do you try to be a role model to others?
“I think it’s super important to be consistent. To remain open minded. To work hard, but listen even harder. But above all else, I strongly believe in the value of teamwork. So, I always try to look for ways I can use my skills or experiences to help bring the best out of those around me.”
Who would you say is your role model and why?
“Michelle Obama…Billie Jean King… Sarina Wiegman…Bozoma Saint John…Serena Williams…Greta Gerwig. I have a few role models, but there’s one thread that ties them all together. They’ve all dedicated their lives to becoming outstanding at something they’re passionate about. They’re all thoughtful, empathetic, resilient and brave women that won’t be shaped by other’s expectations. And are determined to make the world a better and more open-minded place.”
